That's fairly common etiquette for an outdoor venue like that. I go to sporting events all the time and they don't really like it when you whip out your umbrella because it gets in the way.

Recordings of conventions and co talks
by GoUnion inare the parts on conventions and the talks given at congregations at co's still under the orders not to be recorded by the members?
i seem to remember an announcement like this when i was in, but i paid very little mind to it.
after learning about some of the more outspoken talks given by co's over the years i was curious what their official reasonings were for these bans.. it seems clear to me though that the ban is simply to give themselves some sort of plausible deniabiltiy and allow the co's to go on their little rants.

They can't stop you from recording meetings and assemblies. They always give that disclaimer how they are for personal use. They don't want the tapes circulating because of the crazy shit CO's, DO's, and Bethel speakers say.
OneEyedJoe: Never heard of that. Pretty sure that's not in the TOS at all for the WTLIB.

If the devices are linked to the same iCloud account and Safari data is being shared, it is a possibility as the search history, bookmarks, and even currently loaded pages are shared across devices.

1975 end prediction
by FL_Panthers indoes anyone have the article written by the wt saying that the end would come in 1975?.
how did people back then come to this year?
i need this information becuase i was told, this was never literally written by the wt in any publication.. thanks.

The articles would always say something 'the end MIGHT come in 1975.' Basically they would phrase it in a way that would give them wiggle room. However, if you talk to anyone who was a JW then, and they're honest with you, EVERYONE believed 1975 was the end. GB, Bethel 'heavyweights', CO's, and anyone else 'important' ALL preached it from the platform.

Why has the watchtower never written a commentary on the Greek scriptures?
by kneehighmiah inthey have writes hundreds of other repetitive books, but no bible commentary.
is it because an actually commentary would destroy their doctrine and prevent them from being able to cherry pick scriptures?.

a watcher: I'm curious about your congregations situation. As you noted, you got out of a mortgage. The GB asked that congregations paying off a loan donate at least what they were paying each month for the loan. Any idea on how long that should last? Could your elders decide next year to pay less, like just a few hundred bucks? I really wonder what would happen in that situation since I'm sure the GB would not be too happy about not getting that 100k back.

The CO visit this week he says" In August..."
by James Jackson inup until 5 years ago, the co used to work up their own parts for specfic congregations in their circuits.
everything is up to script, in other words, every co in the country are givings the same talks in the local congregations they visit.
what got me to cringe is when he said at the meeting, trying to encourage everyone to pioneer this august; he said :" you know this october it will be 100 years since gods kingdom began ruling, remember what happen when joshua told the israelites to march around jericho on the seventh day, and what happened when they let out a great war cry?

FYI regarding CO talks, here's the deal. They have a number of outlines from the branch that they can use, with the exception of the public talk. They have leeway in choosing which ones to use for a particular congregation. They are also able to tailor the talk to 'suit the needs of the cong.' It's been this way for at least 10 years. I'm honestly still surprised at this since most of the weird shit you hear is from a CO.
